True voice is my way of referring to your brand identity. The term branding is often associated with manipulation of behavior or perception. This negative connotation of the term “branding” has led to the misconception about what branding actually is.
Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, has been quoted saying: “Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.” In other words, your brand is your reputation.
How can you maintain a good reputation?
The simple answer is, by acting from a place of integrity and by being of service to others. Your actions will be the measure of how people think about you and what they say about you when you’re not in the room.
That means that branding is deeply rooted in your beliefs, values, and the actions that are a reflection of your beliefs and values. Your true voice embodies all of your beliefs and what you stand for. And your true voice is the mouthpiece that brings those values to life.
What is true voice branding?
If your brand identity is built on honesty and integrity, a prerequisite to your true voice, you will radiate clarity, decisiveness, and a sense of purpose – all attributes that can delight others and inspire a movement.
