A communications rebel uses his or her true voice to initiate action for the betterment of the world around him or her. A communications rebel is not afraid to break the mold and to use unconventional methods to get his or her point across. To be able to speak from the heart is what makes a communications rebel so powerful and inspiring. Are you a communications rebel?

Your voice, your mission, your audience

I  started Communications Rebel because I wanted to help businesses and brands like yours to step into their true voice. My motto is: Use your voice to do good. The first step in the journey I take business owners on is to discover – what I call – their “true voice.” In order to do so, you want to dive deep into your mission and why you’re doing what you’re doing.

The word Rebel written on handsThe second step in your journey to become a communications rebel is to share your voice and engage your audience around your mission. How can you inspire your audience and your clients to action? How can you help them? How can you use your voice and your message to do good and to make a difference?

Make a difference: Use your voice to do good. #CommunicationsRebel <– Tweet this, if you agree!

What are your values?

A communications rebel abides by the following three core values:

  1. Embrace originality
  2. Fuel positive change
  3. Deliver well-wrought wow!

Of course, feel free to add your own set of principles. Or replace these 3 values with your guiding ideas entirely. Let me explain what I mean with my suggested three core values:

There’s nothing more powerful and inspiring for businesses and brands than to embrace originality. You might have heroes or role models, or other brands that you admire; but never try to mimic them or the way that they’ve approached their business or you will lose your authenticity, your DNA, and your true voice. Every brand has a unique story; tell yours, not someone else’s.

Have your eye on fueling positive change and making a difference in other people’s lives. Consumers love to buy from businesses who care; people love to do business with organizations who care. Don’t be a business with a mission; be a mission with a business. It shows, and it will make all the difference in the way you’re appealing to your audience.

Don’t just tell your story. Don’t just sell your products or services. Deliver well-wrought wow! Take the extra step and invest time and energy in an amazing website, a gorgeous brand presence and the best ever customer service. Ordinary doesn’t stand out; exceptional does. Be exceptional and unique in the way you’re delivering your message to your clients and customers – people will love you for it!
